James Thompson spent 35 years teaching high school English in Ohio. When he retired, he thought his teaching days were over. He was wrong.
A New Chapter
Three years ago, James joined one of our volunteer programs in Guatemala. What was supposed to be a two-week trip turned into a life-changing mission that continues to this day.
"I came here thinking I would teach these kids something. Instead, they've taught me more about resilience, joy, and what really matters in life than I ever could have imagined."
— James Thompson, Volunteer
Making an Impact
Since arriving in Guatemala, James has helped establish a library, trained 12 local teachers, and developed a curriculum that incorporates indigenous languages and culture. His work has directly impacted over 300 students.
